Downtown Edmonton
Although Downtown Edmonton is typically bounded by 109 Street to the west, 105 Avenue to the North, 97 Street to the east, and RossDale Road to the South, we at Stir Catering have served numerous events in the downtown Edmonton core including surrounding neighborhoods such as Oliver, McCauley, and Rossdale.
Edmonton’s downtown core boast the Arts District and Churchhill Square. In addition are award winning institutions such as the Francis Winspear Centre for Music and the Citadel Theatre. Inlcuded in the area are the recent additions of the Art Gallery of Alberta and the Stanley A Milner Library – the main branch of Edmonton Public Library.
Churchill Square is the main downtown square in Edmonton – the heart of the arts district. It is bordered on the north by 102A Avenue, the west by 100 street, and on the south by 102 avenue, aka Harbin Road. On the East (99 Street) – Rue Hull.
Moving north through the arts district, Jasper Avenue sits where 101 Avenue would otherwise be. Combined with 100 Avenue, 104 Street, etc, the Jasper West area has become one of the major hubs of retail, entertainment, and living in the city.
Ice District & Roger’s Place – a $2.5 billion project opened in September 2016. Located between 101 and 104 Street and 103 and 106 Avenue, the area includes the Stantec Tower, a Marriot hotel, and many more future projects to come. Stir is excited to be offering exceptional catering services and delicious food to the downtown Edmonton core as it goes through this exciting transition and grows for all Edmontonians to enjoy.

FAQ
This widely varies, depending on the type of catering options: the event, the menu chosen and the service requirements (drop off vs. sit down celebration). Lunches can start as low as $15 per person and go upwards to around $30. Weddings, because of the service staff required on site, start at $50 per person.
It depends on the event.
We generally do not offer refunds on wedding deposits; however because of COVID, we’ve since adjusted our approach to the option of a partial refund. It’s important to understand that wedding deposits are not just a payment method for upcoming events (but of course when all goes well, that is the most seamless way to use the funds). The other use for a deposit is a promise to fulfill the contract, even in light of circumstances that cause a downsize, reschedule or use it in an alternate way. So when we get other inquiries into a date, if we have the deposit, we can confidently turn down other business. Being a small business that values quality above all else, this is an important tool to ensure our future success because we purposely limit weddings to one per weekend.
Corporate events are often held on weekdays, which are in less demand. In this case we would consider refunds as long as ingredients and staff costs have not yet been incurred.
It depends on the event.
As a general rule, we do not charge for gratuity for serviced events of groups over 80 guests. Because weddings are such a large cost to families, we do not charge gratuity on weddings, regardless of size.
Other costs to consider are rental of plates, cutlery, glassware and linens. This is something that we can arrange, or we can advise our clients what they need to arrange separately.
We have travelled as far as 1.5 hours outside of Edmonton. Any further would require hotel accommodation and additional fees for time away from our families. We service the entire Edmonton metropolitan area including Sherwood Park, St Albert, Leduc, Beaumont, Fort Saskatchewan, and Spruce Grove. We’re located in South Edmonton in Ellerslie (Summerside), and offer free food delivery to the area via our online store.
Yes! We make everything from scratch and can accommodate any dietary restriction.
Outside of pandemic times, we don’t tend to book events with less than 20 guests on weekends, which are usually in high demand. During COVID, we are more flexible on mimimums.
It depends. We are currently booking 1-2 years in advance for weddings – weddings take the longest amount of time for planning. For smaller events such as lunches, we only need 48-72 hours notice, if the date is available. If the event falls on a weekend during the months of May-October, the more notice given the better, due to the high demand. Some events, such as annual fundraising galas, will reserve our services 1 year in advance.
Yes! For weddings especially, but also for anyone looking for something out of the box or in particular, we are happy to use our creative side to come up with one-of-a-kind menu options resulting in delicious food dishes.
